Bang! Media Presents…

THE ACTION SHOW

Saturday Feb. 2, 7pm-9:30pm

at The Vault UltraLounge

219 S Main St, Ann Arbor

Join some of the most exciting up-and-coming SouthEast Michigan artists at THE ACTION SHOW, where movie-themed paintings, poster prints and VHS will be on sale Saturday, Feb. 2nd at Vault of Midnight’s basement art space, the UltraLounge. The event will be held directly before the Michigan Theater’s 10pm showing of the highly-entertaining lost 80’s action ninja rock musical, Miami Connection, distributed by DraftHouse Films.

Bang! Media, the design arm of Ann Arbor artist, Jeremy Wheeler, has curated the show to deliver a deft mix of high art and high camp. Wheeler’s own Miami Connection poster, created in conjunction with the art show and screening, joins such stellar works such as: Gibnerd’s three piece homage to 80s action heroes; Corryn Jackson’s celebration of the Terminator and Karate Kid; Slasher Dave’s own reworking of the Escape From New York poster; with other artists tackling different John Carpenter classics, including Colum Slevin’s homage to They Live, and digital painting guru Grimbro’s Big Trouble in Little China piece. Ripley from the Alien series will also be immortalized by fashion illustrator Peter Breese and painter Erin Norris -- in two works of art sure to dazzle and delight.

In addition, there will be action-themed VHS tapes for sale, along with a trailer compilation made exclusively for the show by Nate Higley. Providing the soundtrack to the night will be DJ Louis P, who’ll be spinning movie scores alongside beat artist Alex Taam, who made headlines in 2012 for his rescoring of the TRON soundtrack.

Entrance to the UltraLounge is through the basement of Vault of Midnight or behind the building in the alley off of East Liberty near Kilwin’s and the exciting new Wafel Shop. Online sales will be handled by the individual artists following the show. A donation of $3 will be asked for at the door for members of the drinking public 21+.
